2012 Upsets

(Rankings as of 30 Sep 2012 8:53am (US Mountain))

This "surprise" factor combines the scoring and rank difference for games in which the worse-ranked team wins against the better-ranked team.

Surprise = ⌈ (WS - LS)÷8 ⌉ × (WR - LR)

LR
⌈ x ⌉ is the least integer ≥ x
(this is the MOV expressed as # of scores)
WS = Winner's Score
LS = Loser's Score
WR = Winner's Rank
(note - in these games will be > LR)
LR = Loser's Rank
(that of the better-ranked team)

Unranked (non-FBS) teams are arbitrarily assigned a rank of one more than the worst-ranked FBS team.
